Bup and Preop: Taper is not needed. Discuss with your prescribing doctor at preop visit.  Or can call the anesthesiologist for consult who may be able to guide you.  This is routine and have no worries.

Charcoal &amp; suboxone?: Charcoal caps are adsorbent - meaning that other particles adhere to it's large surface area. Because charcoal is not digested, anything adhering to it, would also not be digested, and simply be eliminated in a bowel movement. However, this will not "rid ur system" of anything that has already been digested, or is already in your blood stream. As Suboxone is taken SL, charcoal won't affect levels.

Yes.: Hi conni, yes narcotics will work just fine. You may need a little more than a regular person, but if you've been off of them for a while, it will be the same as for the opiod naive person. Make sure you use IV opiods sparingly in the hospital and go to oral meds as soon as possible.
