unlikely: An allergic reaction to food in general usually occurs within 2 hours after eating.  Some people allergic to red meat may not develop symptoms until 4 to 6 hrs later.

No food allergy: You probably are not truly allergic to the food and it is  just a coincidence. Perhaps the food in question is an innocent bystander and another food is the culprit or there is another reason that you have hives and that reason is not related to food whatsoever.  We eat 4 - 6 times a day and hives may seem break out after a food by coincidence.

Need evaluation: You need to see a board certified allergist as soon as possible for further evaluation.  Some simple tests can be done in the office to help determine if you are allergic to coconut or shrimp or both.  In the meantime do not eat either.

Not very long: With food allergies hives either alone or as the first symptom of a more serious life-endangering condition called anaphylaxis typically appear within 5 minutes to 2 hours after the first bite. When appearing in a few minutes hives usually appear around the lips, eyes, face & neck. When 1st appearing after 2 hours hives can appear anywhere. Hives may be delayed as long as 8-12 hours after eating.

Cholinergic  urticar: The size  of these hives  suggests cholinergic  urticaria. This  type of hive  usually occurs  with heat, exercise. You should ask your physicians to have  you see an allergist and/or dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.

Maybe not hives: Hives tend to be raised red welts that itch severely.  If you wiped the beans off his face and they were gone, that's not hives.  But to answer your question, lentils are legumes.  Other foods in the legume family include peanuts and peas.

Allergic reaction: there are so many things in the list that she could be allergic too.there is a very good blood test--immunocap that can test for allergies to food to identify the food.start with very simple foods and slowly add one at a time to see if you can pin point the culprit
