Possibly.: If an open-ended vasectomy is performed, it stands to reason that a longer gap between the cut ends of the vas deferens could possibly decrease the risk of failure by recanalization. However, this has not been systematically studied, so there is no data to support this practice. Current evidence suggests that superior results can be achieved by intraluminal cauterization.

my wife thinks shes pregnant even tho i had vasectomy in march and 0-sperm semen analysis in july. should we have waited longer to have unprotectd sex?

Not really: It is possible that even with no sperm about 4 months later, that you could have developed a failure. Unlikely though. If there is sperm now, then i guess that the previous sample was misleading. I suggest that a semen analysis check and a blood test for pregnancy are in order. Time will solve the question of pregnancy. Get tested when you are worried enough to invest in the test. Best wishes.

Yes: The body continues to make sperm even after a vasectomy, but reduces over many years and eventually will stop   so sperm can be extracted or can have a vasectomy reversal.

It doesn't: Hurt me at all, but if you were to get one it could be mildly painful -- depending upon the skill of the urologist and a number of variables about your anatomy and the surgery and possible complications. Usually you're up and about the next day.
