i have constant mucus deep in the lungs. i had pneumonia 3 months ago which was treated with a 5 day z pack. i'm stillwaking up with sticky mucus that's hard to get out. what should i do?

Go see your doctor: Might need a stronger antibiotic, have bll=ood drawn along with a chest xray taken.

i coughed really really hard to clear some mucous right after i had terrible pain felt like my lung was squeezed closed on the left side. worry?

Doctor to evaluate: May be a collapsed lung (pneumothorax), due to an air leak from the inside of the lung through the covering of the lung, out into the space between the lung and the ribs. The site of the leak has some damage, which will heal itself later. But the leaked air can fill the rib cage (chest cavity), pushing on the heart and collapsed lung...  Emergency Room doctor can see if urgent treatment is needed.

i had a cold/flu with a lot of mucous in my lungs. 3 weeks later, not feeling sick anymore but still coughing. should i just wait it out? or get meds?

Various: It could be clear, white, yellow, green, thick, thin. It changes over time. It is commonly more copious in the morning upon awakening.

Yes....: After 3-5 days all initial infection/inflammation get secondarily infected with bacteria. More so with your medical hx. Time for a short course of antibiotic and mucolytic agent.

If its huge: If its huge and blocks a passage causing your airways to collapse, it can make your short of breath

: It is reassuring that your lungs were clear, consider nasal saline rinses. This usually is effective in reducing post nasal drip. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and recurrence of fever.

can untreated deviated septum cause constant mucus in chest? is this post nasal drip? how is this treated? it's affecting my breathing substantially.

Yes it can: A deviated septum is common, but when severe, can block your nasal passages & change airflow to create additional mucus in your throat. There may be membrane swelling in the side bones of the nose, also called turbinates.  Swelling of these tissues can also block nasal passages & increase drainage.  Your doctor can examine your nose, try some nasal medications, or refer to an ENT for surgery.
