It doesn't grow: Bone graft does not "grow" it serves as a scaffold for your own bone. Your bdy removes the bone graft and replaces it with your own live bone. Depending on the size of the graft it can take several months  unto a year , year and a half.

It is particularly difficult in the mouth, since we have to also talk and eat! however, the good news is that with proper post-operative management and medications, the amount of discomfort is usually minimal. Your implant surgeon will explain all this to you.

Extraction pain: Everyone heals at a different rate. And pain sucks. When a tooth is sectioned, bone removed) takes longer to "settle" down. Did you follow all the rules for post surgery? Occasionally pain after 72 hours indicates a "dry" socket--the bone is exposed. You may need a narcotic pain reliever. It would be best to contact the dentist and schedule a follow-up for monday.

Like a good workout!: You can expect a general mild soreness all depending on how deficit the extraction was. Sometime there is no pain except a slight soreness and that can vary from patient to patient. No: I would strongly recommend that you leave the area of the bone graft alone, especially with there being no cosmetic issues. The pressure the temporary denture would put on the graft site during function (transmucosal loading) will compromise the graft's success. The long term goal should be to maximize the success of your long term treatment.
