CBT: Most SSRIs and medications used for more than very short term anxiety control involve risk of weight gain and many are not successful for the symptom anyway. Whatever you use and it may be possible to side step meds, find a CBT therapist you can work well with. Learn skills to deal w/ those issues. Best!

Fluids and rest.: There really is no cure for cold except to rest, drink plenty of fluids and some supportive treatment like gargle with warm water with salt for sorethroat, some people swear by vitamin c.Decongestants may increase your heart rate so be careful. Watch a funny movie and  relax.

i need to find ssri that will work for severe  anxiety. paxil (paroxetine) made me gain lbs,lexapro and zoloft stopped working . would celexa work. others?

I'll say it again: I think I've already responded to you, but that's okay. There may be an SSRI or SSNRI that will work for you w/out bad side effects, but it gets slimmer each time you try one and fail. Definitely have medical guidance as you sample them - it can be risky to stop and start over and over. Like I say to most... Consider good fit CBT therapy. Find one you trust and work at it. Best!

im a male to female transgender girl. i have anxiety and sleep apnea and taking paxil. ive been drinking slim fast and feel shaky is it safe to drink while on paxil? can drinking it cause shakiness?

: Slim Fast has no documented side effects when used with Paxil, but if  anxiety is not controlled with Paxil, it may be better to ask your provider for an SSRI  with a shorter half life, so discontinuing the medication to see if the "shakiness" is related to Paxil is easier to accomplish.

IT TAKES 2TO3 WEEKS: For anxiety you hae to take paxilat least two weeks and sometimes more to see any effect, and if there is poor responce or none the dose can be incresesd every 4 weeks to see the desirable effect.

Answer below: Ssri's alone may not result in complete remission of symptoms, and are often less effective after years of therapy. Many patients require adjunctive treatment with benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, beta-blockers, mood-stabilizers and psychotherapy. All of the adjunctive therapies have pros and cons, and therapy is individualized and truly "trial-and-error".
