Gout: Gout is the excess production of uric acid.  This is typically from protein metabolism, so reducing proteins in the diet can help. Medically allopurinol which inhibits uric acid production has been a helpful medication.

Not really unless -: You are prone to getting it, because you have a strong family history of it. Keeping you weight in check according to your height and doing regular exercises & eating healthy can reduce your chances of getting it.
Excess of anything can be bad for you, so be wary.

Perhaps: It's hard to say how much fruit is too much, however if you are a borderline diabetic, too much fruit could be a problem.

Uric Acid: Hard liquors, beers, shellfish and seafood, high protein items, such as meats, legumes such as beans and peas, some cheeses all should be limited or avoided.  Many websites list comprehensive gout diets.  Cherry juice reduces gout flares.

Neither: Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. Eating foods high in fat will not affect gout. Food high in uric acid, like steak, will cause gout to flare up. So the problem with steak is not the fat but the uric acid in the meat. The cause of gout is mostly genetic predisposition coupled with the high uric acid diet. Also some medications, diuretics for example, can cause gout to flare up.
