3 month delay common: Over half of all women ovulate right after stopping the pill.  Roughly a third require up to 3 months to start ovulating and 10 percent require 6 months or more.

Luteal phase defect, where ovulation occurs but pregnancy-supporting hormones are low, is  common after stopping ocps.

A good strategy is to wait 2-3 months after stopping the pills to try to conceive.

i get ewcm (thick clear jelly discharge) while on the combined contraceptive. is the pill not working and  im ovulating while on the pill?

Not uncommon: Ovulation while on the pill is actually very common.  The pill prevents pregnancy more by preventing the uterus from developing an endometrial lining (where your pregnancy attaches).  Its contraceptive effect is due to several factors, decreased cervical mucus, thin endometrial lining, preventing ovulation.  Cervical mucus can still develop though.

i can tell that i still ovulate on the pill (ovral). i get a low fever (~99.1) & change in discharge . is this normal and nothing to worry about?

Not diagnostic: Minor temperature fluctuation and discharge do not confirm that you are ovulating, which is not terribly common on the pill. You'd need to talk with your doctor though; if you are ovulating you are at risk to get pregnant.

Well, we never say: That you are not pregnant, .  Its monday so there hasnt been much time for you to get pregnant.  You may consider emergency oral contraception or Plan B to make sure that you arent but its not a good idea to just stop your pill and have sex.  Good luck.

Yes: The old "adage" that you need to wait 3 months after stopping the pill before things are normal again is simply not true.  In fact the best ovulation a woman will see is the first one after being off the pill, that will happen at the normal interval of 14 days after the cycle starts if you are a woman with a normal cycle interval and normal ovulation. Yes: Ovulation could occur as soon as a week after stopping the pill, but could also take as long as six months.

Accepted Answer

Yes: If your age is 43 you may have "early recruitment" which is when your body recruits eggs early because your body has to work harder to get the egg to release (due to lower egg quality).

The ovulation kit lets you know a day before you ovulate. If your menses comes 2 weeks after you think you ovulated, then you were correct that you ovulated on day 6 or 7 (21 day cycle).

No: It does not matter. The morning after pill works by preventing ovulation and fertilization as well as altering the womb lining thereby inhibiting implantation. Even then it is important  to consider pregnancy if the periods are delayed by one week.

They don't.: The pill suppresses ovulation.  When one is on the pill, their body receives a 'higher than normal' amount of estrogen (from the pills), and this acts as a negative feedback signal to stop the body from producing and releasing eggs (ovulation).

You don't: One of the main ways combined OC estrogen/ progestin pills work is by stopping ovulation. Low-dose estrogen pills and mini-pills do sometimes allow ovulation; if this happens it's usually around the usual time.
