3 month delay common: Over half of all women ovulate right after stopping the pill. Roughly a third require up to 3 months to start ovulating and 10 percent require 6 months or more. Luteal phase defect, where ovulation occurs but pregnancy-supporting hormones are low, is common after stopping ocps. A good strategy is to wait 2-3 months after stopping the pills to try to conceive.
