Forget it: No home remedies work for this. None of the creams are worth the money. Prescription pills are very effective but only if taken at the prodrome. Best is valacyclovir 2 grams at once when the first tingling warns of an impending attack. May still help if taken at first appearance of the sore. After the first 12-24 hours it does not matter what you do. Protect from sun (uv) and control of fever redu.

You can lubricate: You can use vaseline or Aquaphor or chapstick. It will heal in a week or so. If you get these, you can take a pill at the first tingling (prodrome) which will make it less severe and heal sooner. Valacyclovir and acyclovir are used for this. Hot steam showers, Cold-Eze Lozenges, Tylenol 1-2 TABLETS every 4-6 hours as needed for fever greater than 100. Tea with dark brown honey OK to use Robitussin DM 1-2 tsp. every 4-6 hrs.as needed.

Over time: Some kids don't care if a cup is substituted for a bottle & if they show no preferance the change can be quick. Some develop a attachment to a bottle & for those, cold turkey may be viewed as punnishment for unknown crimes & a reason not to trust caregivers. I put water in bottles after 1yr& put the good stuff in cups. I'm ok with kids using a water bottle for years but most toss it within wks.

Bronchitis: usually means you have bronchitis. although otc drugs like Mucinex (guaifenesin) dm help, you should see your doctor to listen to your lungs

As long as u take it: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) stays in your body for the amount of time you take it.  Amoxicillin, the base medicine, does not have a long half life.  Clavulanate, the additional component of augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate), (amoxicillin and clavulanate) helps with bacterial resistance.

And yes, you can get a cold while taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate).  Colds are caused by rhinovirus - antibiotics won't prevent you catching that, unfortunately.
