Imaging: An xray usually will tell if the 'tailbone' is broken.  Generally, whether it is broken or not, if it is painful from an injury, it will generally improve slowly.  It is not unusual to take 2-4 months to resolve.

they sell blow up seating donuts at the drug store  use one to sit on to relieve pressure when sitting.

Should not: Not from the tail bone fracture.  However you could have had other injuries that caused it.   I would guess that you are taking medications that are causing it though.  Pain meds can cause constipation and anti-inflammation meds can cause abdominal pain.  In a woman your age the pain may also be Gyn in nature.  If none of the meds seem to be the cause, you should see your physician.

Coccxy: In my experience when the tailbone or coccyx are significantly injured the area remains quite tender for very prolonged periods. However, if you now have more severe pain i would consult an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and treatment.

May need injection:  It depends on how long ago you did this but you may need an injecttion at the location. It could be a soft tissue process

Pain: I have a personal experience with this. Took months to stop hurting and still i get pain getting up from sitting on ocassional. Cushions and anti inflammatory meds help.

Probably not: Tailbone fractures can be uncomfortable for a long time. (i still ache after sitting or cycling for long periods-& it's been 40 yrs!

Hard 2 Rx, but...: Some things like a donut cushion, NSAIDS, all of which U probably have done. Pain clinics can inject the joints involved, this may need 2 B repeated, especially if U get relief. If this helps but only 4 a little while, excision is the next step. Find a surgeon with experience in this procedure. I have done about 25-30. Easy to do, most wake up better, have had no returns, all happy. There R risks.

3 years ago i broke my tailbone, i was able to pick it up and move it around without pain, now since about a week ago i havent been able to sit or do anything but lay on my back w/o having pain. the bone is about 2 inches wide with a bubble of fluid?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, start with a primary care provider to ascertain if you need referral to a specialist.
