That's easy: Doctors refer to psychiatrists all the time. Don't be embarrassed. Explain that you think you need to see someone with more expertise  than a family doctor. I've yet to meet a primary care doctor who takes offense at a request for a psychiatric referral. So muster up your courage and go ask. Good luck.

No one understands?: No one understands what?  Sounds like you have been through a lot of professionals, and are still having problems.  To find a psychologist or other therapist in your new city, you can go to http://www.Psychologytoday.Com/ and use the "find a therapist" search screen.  Some psychiatrists will be there also.  You can also contact the nevada psychiatric society, or the medical school for optionsl.

More expertise: Psychiatrists are specialists with years of specialty training including psychopharmacology that a GP does not have. A GP is trained to refer to a specialist for many reasons if the patient requires more expertise, eg. surgery, GI, neurology etc. We specialists often work closely with a GP to give patients the best possible care. Need meds: If you are out of medications of any type, you may call your previous prescribing clinician for a 1 month supply to provide time to get a new clinician. Otherwise,  contact your primary care provider/physician or go to the emergency room/urgent care as a last resort. Call your insurance company for names of local psychiatrists. Call until you get set up for an intake appointment.
