Lichen planus: Lichen planus is not related to Human papilloma virus (HPV). The cause is not entirely clear but thought to be an immune response of some kind to virus, chemicals or allergens. It is uncommon in younger people but not a cause for concern.

HPV is the most commonly spread STD in the US but only certain strains cause cancer and our immune system can handle many of them. Get screened by your dentist/MD and get your PAP by your OB/GYN, your age indicates its time. Stay calm.

Rarely happen: These are occasionally reported in the medical literature in patients who have immune disorders (AIDS). They would appear on the  outer lip. For some reason the saliva and immune system inhibit their appearance in normal people. They can start as a small blob but eventually have a cauliflower like structure.

True: Rare for a male to get hpv related oral warts after coming in contact with genital hpv.  If that were the case, there would be a lot of men and women walking around with oral warts, as most women and men in their 20's come in contact with genital hpv.  I wouldn't worry... There are much more common things to worry about, like getting in your car and driving (much more dangerous!).  Good luck!

: Saliva contains enzymes that reduce infectivity potential for may types of germs, this one included. I wonder if you ever notice a n animal/dog licking its wounds to help heal them. Its natural to them &amp; helps.

Not uncommon: I don't have the exact prevalances but HPV-related lesions in the oral cavity is not uncommon. It's usually asymptomatic so harder to determine it's prevalance. There is a spectrum of lesions beyond the common warts ranging from benign all the way to oropharyngeal cancer.
