Not necessarily. : African - American babies are not necessarily light skin at birth. They are more closer to their parental skin complexion and do not get darker as they grow. If a baby is light skinned, there might be light skinned individuals in the family, which is genetic but if the baby's mucous membranes are pale, he or she should be evaluated for anemia ( low hemoglobin ).

Only with make-up: Skin that has color, regardless of ethnic/racial group, is naturally uneven from the start. In a new baby, the uneven skin tones are symmetrical (the left half of the body matches the right half) with subtle transitions, so a baby's skin looks very nice. In the real world, spotty color changes occur due to sunlight, dryness, rashes, cuts, scrapes, pregnancy, etc... Change can be darker or lighter.

Hyperpigmentation: What you have is postinflammatory hyper pigmentation meaning that skin irritation causes increased pigment. Isotretinoin causes increased sun sensitivity which could also cause increase in pigment in your skin.
Treatment is with prescription bleaching cream called hydroquinone.
