Get checked: Your description doesn't give me enough information to know what the rash is but it could be scabies, impetigo or ringworm.  If it's spreading through your household you need to get it treated ASAP

Not universal: Hot water does not feel good for all rashes. If the skin is intact and itchy, the hot water is tricking your nervous system and the perception of itch.  Nerve fibers in the skin for temperature and itch have a similar pathway to the brain.  If hot water feels good, then you are overriding the nerve receptors for itch.  It is basically a cloaking phenomenon.

Yes: Best to use a good soap and water , then apply Neosporin and cover to keep from drying out. All will heal in time, often without scarring. Keep riding.

Hot water no help : Poison ivy is a contact dermatitis that takes 10 - 14 days to clear. Hot water will cause the superficial blood vessels in the skin to dialate making the area redder and if hot enough briefly numb nerve endings. It will not in anyway improve or shorten the natural course of poison ivy. The only treatment that partly helps is oral or injectable steroids, but side effects can be significant.

Could be, or : could be something else, many active skin inflammatory conditions can cause this, with the scant information you gave we cannot make a sensible judgement other than ask you to see a dermatologist , you can start with your doctor for initial assessment and possible referral, good luck

: I think you may be dealing with a type of urticaria ( hives) and your skin is in a state of heightened reactivity where scratching releases histamine. If this is it, the cause of this is rather elusive. It may be an allergy to something internal or external. I recommend consulting a dermatologist or an allergist for diagnosis &amp; treatment. In the meantime have you tried taking antihistamines?

Irritant dermatitis?: If you wash your arms and hands a lot, the skin gets dry. Once it gets irritated, anything you put on may hurt you. The itching and blister point more to a contact allergy. Try avoiding scented or antibacterial soap and too much washing. If problem persists, talk to doctor or a dermatologist to pin down what the culprit may be. Patch testing may be needed.
