May be strep, etc.: Nose and throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, allergies, irritants, etc... Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If symptoms only last 1-3 days, it's more likely allergies, irritation, or a mild cold. Doctors have rapid 5-minute tests for strep, so a primary care doctor can examine and diagnose what the cause most likely is.

Infection: You have a respiratory/throat infection. Could be viral and could be bacterial best to see a doctor. Other options to help with symptoms include taing elderberry, gargling with salt water or half and half peroxide and mouthwash (do not drink- just gargle) and a warm cloth around neck to hep with lymph glands. Important to rule out strep throat as that will improve with antibiotics.

Tonsillar crypt: The surface of the tonsil has multiple crevices or crypts.  Sometimes these crevices will become enlarged and fill with a yellow, cheesy looking material which may be a combination of bacteria and extruded cells. They are usually single, except in an acute infection, and often cause minor discomfort.  A peritonsillar abscess could drain, but there would be severe sore throat &amp; swelling first.
