A member asked:

My daughter has a small hole in her throat, near her tonsils. yellow/creamy discharge came out recently. what is this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tonsillar crypt: The surface of the tonsil has multiple crevices or crypts. Sometimes these crevices will become enlarged and fill with a yellow, cheesy looking material which may be a combination of bacteria and extruded cells. They are usually single, except in an acute infection, and often cause minor discomfort. A peritonsillar abscess could drain, but there would be severe sore throat & swelling first.
