Reflux: Gastric reflux can result in the sensation of choking or shortness of breath or the sensation of "heart burn"  if it is continuous it may be more severe.  Life style changes like stopping smoking, stopping alcohol, stopping caffeine may help.  I would suggest seeing your physician, you may need to have an egd - a scope to see what the problem is.

"choking" when runs: Do you feel short of breath or wheeze when you run? Do the symptoms occur with any kind of vigorous exercise? Do they occur more frequently in cooler times of the year? Any history of asthma? May have exercise-/cold- induced asthma: airways tighten up & breathing is more difficult; may wheeze. See fp for pulmonary function testing & exam. Tx may be as simple as inhaler before running.

Possible reflux: During running and other physical activities, our GI tract slows down to shunt blood to our working muscles.  When this happens, digestion slows way down.  This increases the likelihood of having reflux and you'll get a sour taste in the back of the throat.  Try running only after you wait an hour after eating or drinking a large quantity of fluid.

No: Oral thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. Sometimes it is accompanied by thrush in the esophagus, which causes trouble swallowing. If you have trouble breathing, then that's not caused by thrush. I am assuming that you have been diagnosed with oral thrush by a physician, because that is usually a sign of a serious immune deficiency, unless you're using inhaled steroids.

Could be!: Could be.  I would suggest seeing a pulmonary or allergy specialist and have pfts. Don't forget about possible cardiac problem especially if the initial evaluation does not pan out.

Can: If this occurs only at dinner and you are fine for other meals then that would suggest a psychological basis.  How old are you and what gender are you.  Who are you having dinner with and do you eat with others during the day without trouble.  If you still are puzzled then see your doctor to help you figure out your problem.
