Head cold: mostly viral, and will take its course, however you need to rest, hydrate yourself well, salt water gargles, painkillers, and may be decongestants, if no problem with high blood pressure, several combination medicines OTC can help, but read the labels carefully, if no improvement, see your doctor, good luck

Hoarseness: Does it improve during the course of the day or not?  Do you smoke?  Any one sick around you?  Could be a variety of things causing your problem.  Since I'm not there to interview or examine you, best you see your PCP if this is not improving.

my 8th month old son just got a hoarse voice this morning. could it be that his voice is changing?

No : It could be due to excessive crying , or using his voice , nothing to worry , it's temporary .

i had a cold a few weeks ago and i completely got over it about a week ago. its odd though i still have a hoarse voice especially when i talk quiet in the morning. its quiet hoarse sounding. is this normal? should i be worried? any suggestions? ty?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. You may have developed a vocal cord nodule that may cause hoarseness. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably an ENT doctor.

: Give it some rest. Unless you have fever, let it be and heal itself.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Thyroidectomy?: Taking T3 (liothyronine) shouldn't make you hoarse.  However, if you're on it right after surgical removal of your thyroid then the hoarseness is likely due to the surgery and is often short-term.

See doctor: Hoarseness can have many possible causes, including  inflammation of the respiratory tract, enlargement of the thyroid, and tumors. Best to see your doctor for an examination and appropriate tests.

Possibilities...: You may be having bronchospasm which can lead to shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, etc. The cough can lead to musculoskeletal chest discomfort as well as hoarseness. The bronchospasm can be due to post-nasal drip, GERD, asthma, etc. and these disorders can be worse at night, especially in supine position. See your doctor since there is treatment for all of these issues. Quit smoking ASAP!

after a terrible case of laryngitis+bronchitis (treated w atb), my voice is still raspy, hoarse. improved a little, better in the morning but gets worse througout the day (talking). its been almost 3 weeks after infection cleared. is this normal?

: As long as the hoarseness has improved your voice should be normalized in time. Yes, I have seen cases which take more than three weeks to recover, especially in smokers or people who use their larynx a lot. At times, a short course of oral steroid may hasten the recovery. Good luck.
