DERMATITIS SCALP: Hives are signs of allergy. Did you use new chemical on your hair? Like coloring hair with dye? Headache is part of the reaction. Take benadryl, (diphenhydramine) analgesic, steroid cream on your  scalp and if not relieved see md.

l have hives on my scalp, i assume from a new shampoo i used. yesterday i went back to my old shampoo but my hives are still there. i cannot take anti?

Contact dermatitis.: If you are indeed allergic to the new shampoo, it may take several days or even a week for the skin lesions to subside after the last exposure.  In fact, a contact reaction does not start until 24-96 hrs after the actual contact and does not go away immediately simply because you have stopped using it.

i've been on methimazole for 6 yrs & recently have developed itchy hives on my chest/inner arms/scalp/neck/ears and occasionally back & legs-related?

Maybe: Methimazole is notorious for causing a rash.  It is unusual to get a rash after 6 yr, but it is possible. Presumably you have graves disease? Perhaps it is time to reevaluate your hyperthyroidism and think about definitive treatment.  See your endocrinologist.

been using sabutamol inhaler for months. used it today and itching allover including scalp and feel sick but no hives.is inhaler the cause?

Unlikely: I have never seen this reaction from salbutamol and suspect that it is likely from something else - perhaps something which triggered your need to use this medication in the first place. However if this happens again with salbuamol the next time, then one will have to look more seriously on the possibility.

why does  my scalp itch badly when i eat hot foods  or get  exposed  to the sun  or  touch a hot object, don't have hives  just  itch adly?

hi broke out in hives on saturday, i have been taking antihistamines and they seem to go and then come back. my scalp and eyelids are also very itching. the hives are very raised when i wake up,should i go to the doctor?

Hives: Hives are urticaria.  Chronic idiopathic urticaria and chronic spontaneous urticaria are not triggered by identifiable factors. is rarely a sign of another underlying disease. 
Inducible urticaria — Urticaria can be triggered by physical stimuli, such as heat, cold, pressure applied to the skin, exercise, water, vibration, and sunlight.  See a doctor

? urticaria: may be related to a medicine or a food that you took lately, or more commonly a viral infection, you may want to take cetirizine or loratadine OTC, unless contraindicated, to help you with the symptoms. If stays longer than 6 weeks, progresses to lip / eye lids swelling, see an allergist or a dermatologist, good luck

i have been treated for scabbies with ivermectin and permethrin. it seemed to have gotten rid of them but i still have itching .my scalp a itches like crazy with no rash no real rash ,looks like hives and occasional clear blister . is this norm?

: I'm so sorry! Itching is awful! Scabies can itch for 2 weeks after treatment, have to wait for all the scabies bugs and eggs to not only be dead but to be completely gone. Antihistamines like Loratadine in the day or diphenhydramine at night can help. If it has been longer than 2 weeks, I would look for other causes including things like eczema.

mom last night had hives all over head, itchy sore scalp, red & painful ears. had to use ice packs & benadryl. what could it be & what should she do ?

See Doc: If the area is painful and itchy involving only half of the head area, this is likely shingles.  Consult your doctor immediately since timely dosing with anti-viral medication may shorten the duration and severity of the disease.

can aquagenic urticaria occur on scalp?

Accepted Answer

Yes: This is a rare condition and the scalp would be an usual location.  The hives are quite small and resolve within an hour after water is removed.  If it doesn't fit this description then it may be something else.
