Hives: Hives can occur for many different reasons - viral infections, food allergy, medication allergy, insect sting allergy, or rarely an allergy to an environmental allergen. Try oral antihistamines for relief of hives and itching. See PCP or allergist if not resolving.

Hives: Is he itchy or febrile? Is the rash persistent or it comes &amp; goes,  any changes in his diet or  soap, detergent,  fabric softner,  new clothes?  If there's no  changes in his environment,  it could be  a viral illness  called erythema infectiosum  (5th disease), especially if it comes &amp; goes,   so  you need to take him to his pediatrician for examination &amp; treatment. Cold urticaria: Not rare.  Probably the best way to manage this is to take antihistamines prior to exposure to the cold.

Hard to know: Unfortunately, the location of hives offers little diagnostic information.  Assuming this is new for your, the most common cause is infection (often very minor in nature) resulting in activation of innate immune pathways in skin that trigger mast cells. A couple: .. possibilities come to mind when considering hives that consistently occur after intercourse.  Cholinergic urticaria (hives triggered by heat), contact sensitivity (latex condoms?  although this may more commonly be associated with poison ivy-like rash), seminal plasma hypersensitivity (semen allergy-usually person specific, but also usually a burning sensation).  Can try otc cetirizine.

Hives: Non-sedating antihistamines in increased doses (2x/day) can help to control the hives. Adding a topical anti-itch or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream can also help. If they persist greater than 6 weeks, get in to see an allergist.

Some people do : Develop hives in response to stress but it is not normally limited to one body area. Ways to address stress. Talk about feelings ; address problems. Don't avoid them. Aim for 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep/ night. Daily physical activity is optimal in a green space. Eat healthfully. Cut out junk carbs, caffeine ; alcohol (or  moderate). Try qi gong, tai chi, acupuncture, acupressure ;  homeopathy.

MRSA?: I suggest seeing a doctor for evaluation. It could be an infection by resistant staph which is dangerous.

Typical: It is typical for a course of hives to have a waxing/waning course.  The key is to work with a professional to titrate long acting medications that have less side effects in order to gain better control over breakout hives.

Hives: Call your doctor for treatment of the hives and search for the cause.  Sometimes it is allergy to certain foods e.g. Wheat, soy, nuts, peanuts, fish, sea food, cow's milk or reaction to a medication or something in the house.  Keep a journal of what you eat and do each day in the event this returns over and over, you may be able to determine the cause.
