Body temp 90 F: Body temp of 90 F is highly unlikely.  There may be a problem with your thermometer.  Such a low body temp is incompatible with life.  Hive like rash might be due to viral infection or allergen or idiopathic (no identifiable cause). Follow up with doctor re rash.

Think/antihistamine: Whole body hives/itching suggests a food reaction or response to an illness. The listed temperature is not impressive &amp; is probably within expected limits for this condition. Doses of diphenhydramine or a cool bath can help with the itching and may reduce new hives.

Cold urticaria: It sounds like cold urticaria.  Antihistmines can help.   Keeping your body and extremities warm is the obvious solution.  A severe outbreak could even be dangerous but this is uncommon.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated.

i've had hives for 3 days.  standard dose of otc benadryl (diphenhydramine) not helping - can i take more? i am also running a temp of @ 100.0. nrml for me is 97.4.

Hives: Hives can be itchy and painful.  I always worry if patients start to have trouble breathing.  If this is happening, please go to the emergency room now!  otherwise, tylenol (acetaminophen) 1000mg 3x daily and Benadryl 50mg 3x daily can be very helpful.  Please seek medical care, if these hives last another 2 days.  Feel better!

Random hives: The cause of random hives is very elusive, and in my experience we rarely find it. Your underactive thyroid condition should be easily corrected with the proper dose of thyroid supplement. An allergist may be able to shed more information on the cause of your hives.

i have had temp-induced hives for 8 yrs. i take 4 xyzal/day to control. now i often break out in tiny clear water blisters when my skin gets hot. why?

See dermatologist: Looks like that you may have cholinergic urticaria which is benign and associated with the cooling down period after a rise in core body temperature.  The blister type of lesions are not urticaria and may be serious if not treated promptly.  See a dermatologist ASAP.

Anywhere on the skin: Some parts of the body react differently. Instead of hives the lips and eyelids often swell and hurt. This is called angioedema (see photo). This often occurs with the hands and feet as well. When the eye itself has an allergic reaction the white of the eye swells but the iris and pupil do not. This is called chemosis.

Hives: Make sure first that he is breathing well and no tingling or numbness in his throat that you need to take him to the the ER. Give him bendryl according to his body weight.  Then let him change him clothes and take a shower to make sure about any reaction he could have from his clothes. You might want start checking what was he doing before sleeping to identify the cause of the hives.

How long?: If it lasts over 6 weeks, see an allergist. If it is short term, try some otc antihistamine up to 4 x the regular frequency but watch out for drowsiness. If it did not work, see an allergist.
