hello doctor,im mannu,i had hiv duo combo test 6 & 12 weeks(84days) came negative.its conclusive? should i take test 90days?then i have sore throat above 2months. also take rpr,hsv,tpha,syphillis,chlamydia all are negative. but still i worried?

: Yes take the 90 day test. have an ENT doc check your sore throat- it might not be related to VD/HIV. In the meantime gargle with salt water, avoid smoke.  Its good that those tests are neg. Good luck.

4th gen HIV tests...: ...are 100% conclusive any time 4 weeks or more after exposure. There is no basis for continuing to be frightened you have HIV.  Assuming you haven't been reexposed more recently, your 6 week result was conclusive and your 19 week test unnecessary. Stop testing and do your best to move on without worry. Also test for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis if not done, much higher risk than HIV.

: Differences in the number mean nothing if it is below the cut-off value for that test run. Your results of 0.2 and 0.6 are both totally negative; pay no other attention to the specific number. Your negative result at 35 days is 98-99% conclusive. You need a final result at 6 weeks (or, ideally, 45 days) for a 100% conclusive result.

Yes: The HIV antigen-antibody ("combo", "duo", "4th generation") test is conclusve any time 4 weeks or more after the last possible exposure. Some agencies take conservative stances and still advise later testing, e.g. 3 months, but it is rarely necessary. There might be an exception if someone gets post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) with anti-HIV drugs. Unsuccessful PEP might delay positive to 3 mo.
