: After 90 days, negative AgAb ("combo") and antibody-only tests both are 100% conclusive. With the modern HIV tests, there is no such thing as false negative antibody tests no matter how long HIV has been present.

Very accurate: If performed properly, oraquick has shown consistently verifiable results.  You can always check with your doctor for additional testing (such as antigen or PCR) if you're really concerned.  But, all things being equal, the oraquick tests are as reliable as the antibody tests we use in the office.

They may last: Any antibodies may stay on the blood for years. However, when we talk about dormant, we mean an infection that is not causing symptoms for a long time. Hiv (human deficiency virus) sometimes does not cause any clear symptoms until a patient has developed aids. Antibodies are usually formed by th etird month after infection.

Accepted Answer

Sure, but...: Life is not perfect, so tests have false positives or false negatives. A "potential risk" means maybe there was no risk. A person who knows his blood-contact partner had HIV virus usually does not say "potential risk" but leaves off the word "potential." If there was no good reason to suspect HIV transmission, then a negative test result is extremely accurate, especially after months or years.
