Maybe not...: Call your surgeon immediately to see if he/she wants you to take it off.  It may be causing pain if it&#x27;s too tight because of foot swelling.  This can be dangerous and cause compartment syndrome so best to call right away.

Shoe raiser: Try getting a shoe leveler hat raises the other side up to match the level of the cam boot.  This allows too to continue ambulating but at an even level and less imbalance while walking.

i broke one of my tarsal bones and was given a cam boot which i have been wearing 24/7 but the pain is still excruciating. would it be weird to ask for a cast? i am wondering if less movement would decrease pain?

: Yes. You should be in a non weight bearing cast period. Even possible surgery if joint is involved. Seek second opinion.

i had a plate a 7 screws removed from my ankle three years after fracture. i was given a cam boot but have also been walking without it - is that an issue? am i likely to not heal as well walking without the boot? is there any benefit to wearing it?

: Removing the implant leaves areas of the bone that are weak for a short period until the bone fills in where the screws use to be.  It is important to use the boot as instructed by your surgeon.  The occasional walking around the home without the boot will not harm you, but not using the boot at all may increase your chance of injuring the ankle again.

i sprained my ankle 4 days ago, i saw my dr. yesterday and she ordered an x-ray. i have an avulsion fracture and was told to wear a moon/cam boot for 4 weeks. today my 2nd last toe is completely numb, should i be concerned?

Maybe: Femoroacetabular impingement can cause an abnormal gait but not always. This condition is diagnosed based on physical exam and imaging findings.

can cam impingement only arise from anatomy or can it be caused by shoes or activities that require  a lot of external rotation of hip?

Let me explain: A deformity of the ball at the top of the femur (called cam impingement). If the head is not shaped normally, the abnormal part of the head can jam in the socket when the hip is bent. This may occur during activities such as riding a bicycle or tying your shoes.
