my partner & i had intercourse  3wks ago. ever since the day after sex, i have moderate lower back & hip pain. i just found out yesterday i am pregnant! could this be ectopic pregnancy  due to the pain or can pregnancy pain start from conception?

Not start that early: The more common causes of lower back pain include:  back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, fractured vertebra (spondylolysis), slipped vertebra (spondylolisthesis), herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, urine infection, kidney infection or stone; tumor in the spine, kidney, or elsewhere; fibromyalgia, etc...  With such a long list of possibilities, one's doctor can examine.

Right hip pain: This may be a ruptured ovarian  cyst, ovarian torsion  appendicitis, or  other diagnosis .  Call your OB and get checked out.

Pillow: When on your back, you vagina has a natural angle downward, this helping keeping the semen and sperm in the deepest part of the vaginal vault. This allows the sperm more chance to get up to the tubes where the egg is.

Using a pill under your hips can change angle to be a little steeper. It isnt totally necessary tho.

Preg with pain: You should report this to your ob, and meanwhile refrain from intercourse and heavy lifting etc. Follow directions from your OB carefully.

Don't worry: Be assured that a normal pap smear 3 mo ago is very reassuring. Many women can have some uterine cramping or mild spotting after intercourse, due to contact with the cervix. In younger women, the skin on the cervix is very delicate and can bleed quite easily. The cramping should ease up soon. You can use a heating pad for comfort, or try some ibuprofen. Spotting between periods is common.

N9 irritating: non oxynyl 9 is irritating and can cause these symptoms too

that is possible: Please do a urine preg test but you need to see your obgyn as  blood test can be done and a pelvic ultrasound, if the pain and bleeding become worse this weekend please call your obgyn or go to the closest er.

GYN: If you have a change in color, texture, odor or amount of vaginal discharge &amp; problems such as pain, itching burning with urination or sex or redness/swelling  then It is best to see your gynecologist for evaluation &amp; accurate assessment.

why do i have sharp hip pain?

Bursitis :  It depends on the location of the pain.  If it is on the side of the pelvis that may well be bursitis of the hip. This is often trochanteric bursitis More often the hip joint pain is felt in the groin. Your physician would be able to evaluate you and decide on the diagnosis. Therapy would include NSAIDS, physical therapy, injections, etc.
