Foodborne : Foodborne illness from eating contaminated food is estimated to cause 48 million illnesses and 3, 000 deaths in the United States each year.  The onset of symptoms ranges from minutes to days to weeks after ingestion of the contaminated food.  The affected person may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever.  There is a wide range of offending agents, from bacteria to parasites to viruses.  Shellfish can be contaminated when human waste is introduced into the water that shellfish live.  Offending agents in shellfish include campylobacter jejuni, vibrio cholerae, vibrio vulnificus, and a variety of salmonella species.  In addition, hepatitis a, a virus that can cause liver disease, can be transmitted by contaminated shellfish.

While many healthy individuals have self-limited symptoms, in some patients that are immunosuppressed, very young or very elderly, or if symptoms persist or are severe (such as bloody diarrhea, excessive nausea and vomiting, or high temperature), call your doctor to be tested and treated.

Not usually: X-rays or radiographs of the skull are not useful in evaluation of head trauma.  If you hit your hard enough to raise concern that there is a skull fracture of bleeding in or around the brain then a non-contrast ct is the appropriate exam.

Blueberry muffin: Pregnancy require nourishment for the adequate growth of the fetus and maintenance of the mother. The key is to target a balanced diet and a daily dose of prematal vitamin. The consumption of blueberry  muffin as in this case is fine so long as it is consumed with moderation.

Nothing wrong with: There is nothing wrong with being close to your family.  In your age it's common to get upset about lack of friends or social attention.  Grow up, study well in school, play sports - friend will come and go, your family will stay.  So, consider your priorities

if your glutan sensitive or caffine sensitive (assuming im one of the two or both) can u drink tim hortons decafe coffe safely?

Probably: Coffee does not contain gluten. Decaffeinated coffee still contains trace amounts of caffeine but unless you are extremely sensitive to caffeine you should have no problem handling the tiny amounts of caffeine in Tim Horton's decafe. But the only way to know for sure is to try it!

hi, my doctor gives me hibon 3500 iu every second day and due to unavailability, doctor ref lonopin 40. is both same? which one is best??

Hibon: isn't coming up. HEPARIN would be twice a day not once every other day. Lonopin is one of many blood thinners. Lonopin is pretty commonly used, I suspect it is a perfectly reasonable choice BUT
Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health and issues of bleeding would be one of many I cannot comment on in your particular case; generally its safe.

Abnormal: 236 is too high, this is usually due to supraventricular tachycardia. He probably requires medication. The doctor who ordered the test should explain the results completely.

???: I am not sure about a correlation with blood worm and this antibody?  Anti-histone antibodies are autoantibodies that are found in 50%-70% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (sle), but I am unawre of a correlation with blood worms?  Posibly a pathologist may know of a correlation.

i'm 39 and was just diagnosed with polymialgia rheumatica and hortons disease, i was told its rare for my age  but how likely am i to go blind?

Giant cell arteritis: Best way to diagnose is with temporal artery biopsy. If biopsy is positive treatment with oral Prednisone to make sure sed rate returns to normal level. Prednisone is then gradually tapered while sed rate is monitored. Following this protocol the chance of going blind in one or both eyes would be highly unlikely. See a neuro-ophthalmologist if you are unsure you are getting proper treatment.

a small green tea (black) and a small 1 milk from tim hortons is what i had today. is that to much caffeine for one day? and will i gain weight?

Accepted Answer

Not on weight: A small tea has a very small amount of caffeine, usually less than 50 mg, and milk doesn't have any caffeine. This is not a large amount of caffeine. There are people who think that we should have no caffeine ever, at all. There is no scientific basis for that. Small amounts of caffeine do not appear to be harmful. The huge doses being hawked in 5 hour energy etc. May be harmful to some people.
