Contamination: is probable if they didnt obtain the specimen with a catheter. With a 'clean catch'  it is rare to not get some wbc

Healthy pregnancy: There's nothing harmful about the scenario you describe though I do not know why you're getting ultrasounds so frequently. If you have not gotten a urine culture in pregnancy yet, you should.

More info: WBC counts also include a differential of neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes etc. A detail report of WBC i sneered to give you an accurate answer. In general if yur wife has no complaints and no fever or infection symptoms, I will not worry about it. Good Luck.

Several causes.: Drugs (steroids, chemotherapy, immunosuppressants, rare aplastic anemia from toxicity of many drugs), viruses (ebv, hiv, cmv), sepsis (urinary or other), toxic exposures, endocrinopathies, vitamin deficiency (b12 in particular), hematologic disorders, cancer/leukemia/lymphoma are some of the causes that leap to mind. Seek maternal-fetal medicine and hematology care and best of luck!

Leukocytosis & PG: An elevated white cell count can be seen in pregnant women. If your obstetrician is concerned, they should refer you to a hematologist. If it resolves after delivery, no further follow-up is required.

One possibility: Ask your physician which of your white cell types is low (lymphocytes or neutrophils). These are really meaningful only if the absolute count of one of the other is way-low. The first thing that pops into my mind to rule out is lupus -- it famously makes it difficult to carry a pregnancy, and can lower the count of one of your white cell types. This may be a heads up. Hope your dreams come true.

i am beginning my third trimester of pregnancy. i had a 15 white blood cell count on my last test, and then just had mine be 18. can this be normal? what might this mean? i have no symptoms?

: You can have a higher than normal wbc during pregnancy as physical and mental stress is common. However your wbc is significantly elevated(18000)  suggesting infection,preexisting condition or bone marrow pathology. I highly recommend consulting a hematologist for evaluation and advice. Discuss this with your obstetrician first.
