It can mean: An elevated level of thyroid hormone, either due to hyperthyroidism or thyroid inflammation. It can be falsely elevated by estrogen therapy. Other thyroid tests are more reliable. The T3 (liothyronine) you're receiving is potentially dangerous and should not be taken. It can not me measured in the blood and has potential toxicity. Use brand name T4 only if replacement is required, .

Depends: Levothyroxine is t4.  T4 is converted to t3 (liothyronine), (liothyronine) the active thyroid hormone. Some patients have trouble converting T4 to t3 (liothyronine) and need t3 (liothyronine) replacement inaddition to T4 replacement. You should talk to your doctor about your levels. Depending on the reason for your thyroidectomy, like thyroid cancer, you may want to have higher T4 levels to suppress your tsh.

is 5.08 tsh level is too high ? t4 free is normal but tsh is 5.08. also i am not gaining weight is it abnormal? i dont do anything to loose weight?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, you are risk of becoming hypothyroid and some endocrinologist would put you on replacement medication to avoid a period of hormone deficiency.     Wish you good health!

May be lab error: Frequent change in TSH values (from high to normal then high) is not normal when T4  stays normal. T4can be normal and TSH high  if you have hypothyroidism .Frequent change in TSH can be due to irregularity in taking treatment.Your physician should be investigating the cause of frequent change in tshvalues .Hope the problem will be solved.

No: It is an inverse relation.  The higher the T4 the lower the tsh.  So if your TSH is very low it may mean yoiur thyroid is too high.
Normally a low TSH and a high T4 would mean you are hyperthyroid.  A hyperthyroid person tends to lose weight, have heat intolerance, irritability and a tendency for loose bm.

Subclinical thyroid: Could represent subclinical hyperthyroid or early thyroid disease or lab error.  Should monitor this over a period of months to see if there is any change.

A high protein: T4 and T3 (liothyronine) are bound to a protein in the blood and when it is high, the T4 and T3 (liothyronine) can be elevated with a normal tsh. Estrogen, birth control and pregnancy are the most common causes of an elevation of this protein.

Iodine deficiency: Iodine is the base for thyroid hormone. Since the T4 is high, it is unlikely that there is an iodine deficiency. It may be possible that you have a thyroid peri oxidase deficiency, which may cause a lack of t3 (liothyronine). You should consult an endocrinologist.

See a hematologist: If your iron level is high, you need to be bled periodically to prevent damages to your organs particularly your liver. This is a continuing process and not a one-shot deal.  As for your thyroid, you need another test to confirm whether your thyroid replacement is adequate. Since natural thyroid extract is not standardized, it is hard to regulate your thyroid with it (used about 50 yrs ago).
