Also avoid caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and stimulants, in order to minimize the stress response.  See your doctor for evaluation to make sure it's simply stress  and not something else.

Go see your doctor: Normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute (bpm). Persistently fast heart rate needs to be evaluated while palpitations are relatively commonplace & don't have as much significance unless associated w/lightheadedness, dizziness, faintness, shortness of breath, etc. Fast pulse can be due to anemia, dehydration, overactive thyroid, medications, etc, as well as abnormal heart rhythm. Get evaluation.

Multiple causes.: Anemia, infection, hyperthyroidism, heart failure, valvular heart disease, autonomic dysfunction, pericarditis, myocarditis.  Rare causes would include neuroendocrine tumors such as a pheochromocytoma.  It merits a careful history and physical exam, ecg, chest x-rays and some routine blood tests.
