How's the thyroid?: High MCV with normal B12 (did we check folate (folic acid)? do you drink?) says hypothyroidism until proved otherwise, and I see you've also listed this as a health problem. Further, you're taking vitamin B12 -- for a reason? -- but do not list thyroid Rx. Truth be told, you have a duty to get the thyroid issue addressed and managed, now, even more than to seek explanations for lab values. Be proactive.

i believe i have shingles.  the rash appeared yesterday and is blistering today.  can i wait until morning to visit a walk in cl or should i go to an er tonight?  female, 51 yrs, high level of daily stress

Shingles : Shingles is caused by a reactivation of the chicken pox virus. If your rash is unilateral (on one side) in a linear or grouped fashion, this may be the diagnosis.  Often, it will start with tingling, prickly sensation, or slight pain and then red bumps and blisters will form.  They will crust over after about a week and then slowly heal. The sooner you get the treatment started, the better.  The longer you wait, the more protracted and more severe your shingles might become. It would also be wise to make sure that is truly what you have, so i would probably go to an urgent care tonight or in the am so that you can get a good diagnosis and treatment started if necessary.  Also, if your shingles is anywhere on the face (near the eye or ear or nose) or in the groin, buttock area it can sometimes cause other problems that need to be addressed more promptly.

I imaging you : Are referring to cardiac output, cardiac index and systemic vascular resistance that may be an index one(svri). I am a critical care physician. In my opinion those numbers are meaningless without known history and physical, working diagnosis, chest x-ray, ekg, blood pressure, heart rate. Co may be little low and svr too. No sense to me without above info. Talk to the ICU physician in charge.

In general more information is needed to know the cause behind it - skin problems, hormonal issues, scars, smoking, dehydration, drugs, chemical etc. Good lip hygiene can be practiced by exfoliating it when brushing teeth, use a lip balm with SPF in it, stay hydrated. Dermatologists can offer some creams, laser treatments or peels that can help with it.

CKD reasons: Stage 3 ckd, is a crcl or GFR of 30-59. It is very very common. The most common reasons are damage from high blood pressure, diabetes, nsaids, recurrent utis, recurrent kidney stones. Less common reasons are prior episodes of kidney failure, autoimmune diseases, and polycystic kidney disease. Even more rare are cancer related or inherited conditions. Most with stage 3 CKD will never need dialysis.
