Not "cause": In reality we do not KNOW the true cause of high blood pressure. We do know many things that will drive it up in a predisposed individual. Considering about 30% of population has HTN, it is fairly common. Smoking and/or any act that stresses the body or mind can drive BP up in someone wo already has HTN or is genetically "ripe" to develop  HTN

Multiple causes: There are many causes of high BP.  Aging and hardening of arteries are the most common  causes.  Very few have cure.  The treatments can be directed to the specific causes, if known.  However, essential hypertension is one when the cause is unknown.  Most high BP can be controlled but not cured by behavioral treatment, lifestyle modification, diet, exercise, weight loss and medication.

Genes,aldosterone,: From 15-35% of hypertension results from secondary causes (excess hormones, abnormal blood vessels).  This is more likely to be the case in a young person, especially if no family history of high blood pressure.  If your BP is verified as high, secondary causes should be evaluated, and if ruled out, treated with lifestyle changes and if necessary, medicines.

NO: You are fine. Relax. This is normal BP and Pulse. There is normal range of BP from 90/60 to 140/85. and Pulse varies from 60 to 100.

Just don't repeat...: Sorry to see such, which is not uncommon in daily living for many. For Levothyroxine, you may just wait, watch, and see; of course, do not repeat it and move on; it is unlikely to cause undue effect from what you described, i.e., one-time event! As always, take any drug with caution esp. at the beginning of its use.

May need treatment: Get a BP monitor &amp; note the BP at home &amp; take it to the doctor.
Normal BP is around 120/80

You can change your diet &amp; regular exercise can help BP stay in the normal range.

Increasing : Increasing your Lisinopril may help your blood pressure, and you probably do not need a full office visit to make the change if you are doing well otherwise. But, there is a risk that the higher dose would negatively affect your kidney function so you should have labs checked 1-2 weeks after you make the change. I would recommend that you call your doctor's office to report the higher blood pressure. They should know that this is happening, and also that you are considering a higher dose. You could ask them if they would agree to the dose increase and provide you with a lab slip to get blood work after making the change. This should not cost you much, and may help you avoid a full office visit.

Depends: Likely not and if this happens all the time likely white coat syndome that up to 30% of patient have.However, have your providers nurse check your cuff against thiers as yours could be off calibration and incorrect as some automatic cuff can be.

i am 48 and just had gallbladder removal. its not quite 48 hours post procedure but i have been having high blood pressure and i didnt have it before. my last bp was 154/101. i have taken a blood pressure medication an hour ago. what is going on?

: There are a wide range of possibilities, from pain to anxiety to a med side effect. There are many different medicines that can be given anesthesia-wise and it is possible you are reacting to one of the medicines. If that is the case, your elevated blood pressure will likely be short-lived. If you are having pain or anxiety, this can be treated. Good luck!
