i'm a 43 year old man who suffers from high blood pressure. this evening i felt very nauseas and woozy. after a bit of rest, i woke up feeling the same. should i be concerned? i'm also feeling flashes of cold and warmth. please help if you can.

Woozy, nausea: I assume you checked your bp and it was in good control. Vertigo and nausea, especially if it's provoked or worsened by head motions is generally an inner ear disorder. These symptoms can also occur from blockages in arteries supplying the back of the brain or the cerebellum. If you can't pinpoint the symptoms to an inner ear cause, I recommend proceeding to the hospital emergency room for evaluat

I : I am so sorry that this is happening to your friend.  Please tell her not to be frustrated, and to see out a second opinion.  I am glad that she has already seen specialists, but as she has ongoing symptoms please have her see a second opinion and see what they think.  If she has worsening symptoms, vomiting, fever, increased blood pressure, or cannot eat then she will have to go to the er.

None reliable...: There are few reliable, predictable symptoms of high blood pressure unless it is extremely high or 'too late'.  For instance, if way too high, the eyes and brain don't like it and the retina of the eye can thicken or hemorrhage causing visual loss or distortion.  Mental status changes and headaches can ensue. At worst, stroke.  Mild high blood pressure has no reliable symptoms, so get it checked!

See below: High BP usually no symptoms. If BP  is very high then you may have headaches or blurry vision. High BP can cause strokes and heart attacks.
Diabetes can also be asymptomatic. Early symptoms include increased thirst, increased urination, and fatigue. Possibly weight loss.

Baroreflex failure: The purpose of the baroreflex control system is to keep blood flow to the brain constant by adjusting heart rate,  microcirculation and heart contractility.  When this fails BP can swing from 0 to 300 but on the average it does not cause high blood pressure but every wide swings in BP.

So normally when BP goes up heart slows and contracts less hard.

If BP falls  rate goes up heart contracts more

No: Persistent high BP is the first sign of hypertension. However transient high BP may be related to stress, exercise, too much caffeine, excessive weight etc.
