Only if allergic: The only concern regarding the use of latex gloves that I am aware of is being allergic to them. I personally know of no other health risks. It affects about 5-10% of health care workers and almost always just involves a contact dermatitis.

Good question: Its like your doing all these rotations, some are cool and some really boring.  Delivering babies was and is a blast.  You get to relieve problems surgically as well so we operate a lot.  So it's kind of action packed, get to do surgery, then have flexibility to do primary care.  It's just a fun specialty and at times ur the hero.

my health care professional said she suspects that i could have uterine cancer. what kind of test will tell for sure?

Endometrial biopsy: A very small tube is inserted through the cervix until it reaces the uterine lining. A syringe attached to the end pulls back and the lining comes into the syringe. The cell are sent to the pathologist for examination for abnormal  cells .  The procedure is done in the office.

why specifically should you wait at least one cycle after a m/c to try again?  i've heard for easy dating/for uterine lining/for emotional health...?

Accepted Answer

Recommendations vary: depending on how far along you were.. Grieving needs to occur no matter how early the loss. The implantation site needs to heal. Another implantation in the same area might not be optimum. It may take two months before ovulation occurs  after a miscarriage ( dating the next pregnancy). The stress of the miscarriage increases cortisol- not a good thing for the next pregnancy. I say wait 3 months!

ive started having inter uterine bleeding with blood clots when i am experiencing stress or anxiety, it goes away after the stress is gone, what is causing this? no known health issues

See below: Your doctor can prescribe pills that can limit your periods to once a year. Take oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia from excessive blood loss.

No evidence : I haven't seen any real evidence for that.

Raspberry tea: There is no known benefit for uterine polyps by the use of raspberry tea. This kind of treatment does not provide any mechanism in most literature for polyps, and if symptoms of bleeding occur, the best treatment is minor surgery.

None: There are no specific nutrients that directly help the uterus. Most people can benefit from a multivitamin. Some also benefit from other specific vitamins that need to be tested by your physician.

An : An enlarged uterus can be caused by fibroids, which are benign (non-cancerous) growths, which occur very commonly in the uterus.  An enlarged uterus can be caused by endometriosis or adenomyosis, which is endometriosis inside of the uterine wall.  Endometriosis is extra uterine lining tissue that is present where it shouldn't be.  Rarely, cancerous (malignant) growths can cause uterine enlargement.

what are the tests a woman really needs to have annually if no uterus, no major health problems, no meds?

Accepted Answer

Well woman exam: The absence of the uterus should not deter an annual examination by your OB gyn.  If you still have your ovaries, a pelvic exam is necessary to detect any ovarian changes as the risk of ovarian cancer increases with age.
