Vomiting: Bulimia is a psychological disorder where a person, often a young woman, causes herself to vomit, and often after eating. It requires medical treatment, often by a psychologist. Bulimia has nothing to do with the colon, which is the lowest end of the digestive tract.  Vomiting may damage the upper end of the digestive tract, the esophagus.

can abdominal adhesions cause pain after colonoscopy?

Possibly: As the scope is advanced and air placed in the colon some degree of stretch and distortion can occur putting tension and possibly tearing adhesions in the abdominal cavity. These can cause pain and even potentially bleeding.If you are having pain especially with a fever or nausea, please call your endoscopist and discuss with them. They need to be aware to determine if a complication has occured.

can a colonoscopy diagnose a partial large bowel obstruction caused by abdominal adhesions?

Accepted Answer

Maybe: Adhesions occur from pror surgery. Was there past surgery? External adhesions would be rare to cause colon obstruction. If there was prior colon surgery, then surgical site anastomosis narrowing or scarring would be visible at colonoscopy.

i've relapsed into bulimia. i'm 7 months post partum and due to have a colonoscopy later in the next month. i've relapsed in the last two weeks and last saw the gi doctor in september. is it still safe for me to go under anesthesia?

Accepted Answer

: Bulimia causes electrolyte disturbances that can be problematic to heart function and may interfere with anaesthesia. Talk to your GP and/or GI Dr's about blood tests to measure your electrolyte levels. Without these, they should not put you under anesthesia.

i had a hemorrhoid operation 25-30 years ago there is a lot of scar tissue last colonoscopy dr said  had some trouble with scope. do i need operation?

Probably: If the hemorrhoidectomy removed too large an area of island tissue between the sites where the hemorrhaoids were excised, the mucosa of the anal canal can form a stricture.  This would make it hard to pass the scope.
If there are normal  bowel movements one can leave the situation alone or dilate the area.  Otherwise the interspaced island of existing scar may need adjacent skin rotated in.

2cm possible lipoma found on hepatic flexors on colonoscopy.  sent for cat scan.  why?  what are they looking for ?  could it be scar tissue

Not scar tisue: It is not scar tissue and you have to ask your doctors what they are looking for based on your history and the findings through colonoscopy

ihad ovarian cyst at age 25. it ws left alone and eventually went away.  had dull ache when ovulating for years from scar tissue i am 60 and had a colonoscopy a week ago.  have this ache again   can it be related? do i need to see my dr?

Unrelated: Your current ache is not likely to be related to the ovarian cyst from long ago. It would be prudent to consult your doctor.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

shredded poop and water after 5 days of laculose 30 ml 2x day. colonoscopy tomorrow. dangerous to prep if rectum blocked or adhesions from prior surgery?

Colonoscopy: It sounds like you are already prepped as lactulose is a potent osmotic laxative and based on stool characteristics.Cannot comment on the possibility of a partial obstruction or structure with limited information. Would suggest calling the office of the doc performing procedure asking for further directions as they likely have access to your detailed medical history.

At times: The descending colon above the rectosigmoid has a segment of redundant bowel known as the sigmoid colon.  The excess bowel can actually flop from the left side where it is normal to the rt. sided cecum. This is the so called twist of excess length of bowel.  Scarring can occur if diverticular disease present resulting in inflammation and associated scarring/

Complicated case: With those numbers of operations you are a complicated case - but sounds like a hernia, if it is chronic over the past while. Have a surgeon check you.
