i can't get in my hernia doctor until friday and the pain is to the point i need answers. pain is at 9.5, had surgery with mesh last week.

See a doctor: If you have 9.5 pain after surgery and can't see your doctor, then you need to go to an emergency room.  However, i would think your surgeon would want to squeeze you in to his schedule with that level of pain.

had surgery for hernia doctor rupture my bowels now when i eat or drink it comes through my navel and my bowels also come through my navel is this nor?

NO: If you have bowel contents coming out of your abdominal wall, you have developed a fistula.  This needs immediate attention.  You should contact your surgeon as soon as possible.

Yes: Once the hernia repair has fully healed, usually about 4-6 weeks after surgery and when approved by your surgeon, you would then be able to return to full normal activities and exercises.

Do you have GERD?: If your problem is heartburn, then you likely have gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd), which is often attributed to a hiatal hernia.Gerd should never be treated with surgery first & rarely requires it. Acid-reducing medication, avoidance of caffeine, tobacco, acidic foods, weight loss, avoiding large meals just before bedtime, sleeping propped up on pillows are but a few rx's. Talk 2 a GI dr.

Not necessarily: Hernias are fairly common. It depends on the size and location of the hernia and your overall health, weight, diabetes, heart conditions. It depends if you had already had surgery at the same site. Hernias can be observed if small or not causing symptoms. You can also get a second opinion from another doctor.

UGI series X-Ray: Hiatus hernia is when the stomach tends to slide up into the chest through a natural "hiatus" (opening) the diaphragm. It can cause heart burn and  abdominal/chest discomfort. An upper GI series x-ray will demonstrate the presence of hiatus hernia. I have not heard of.

Sage advice: It is important to have the hernia repaired. A hernia is basically a hole in the abdominal wall, and what can pooch through and potentially get stuck and strangulate is intestine. If the doctor had not been able to push the hernia contents back in, you would likely have had urgent surgery to remove the contents from the hernia and repair it. Avoid this development and have your hernia repaired
