i've got a hiatal hernia 8cm+ and i get indigestion and heartburn every day now i've started bringing up food soon as i eat. what can i do?

What have you tried?: Your sizable hiatal hernia may be contributory to your symptoms.  Is it fixed, sliding, para-esophageal?  Before you consider surgery for the hiatal hernia and its manifestations of gerd, have you tried and failed appropriately-dosed acid blocker agents and anti-reflux diet modification?  Has a ph study and manometry been considered? Does your stomach empty normally?

unlikely: Most of the times hernia (s ) will not cause any symptoms except occasional pain , but when it gets incarcerated is an emergency , will have severe pain , can not be pushed inside requiring emergency surgery.

Not correct: Hiatal hernia and reflux in the long term carries a risk for barrett's esophagitis which is precancerous, surgery is effective and most of the time can be done laparoscopically with excellent long term results and prevention of the precancerous changes.

the past year everytime i eat doesn't matter what it is i get severe indigestion & diarrhea straight after, i have a hiatus hernia is this the cause?

Unlikely: Your symptoms are not likely from a hiatal hernia. Typical hhs symptoms are heartburn and regurgitation.  Indigestion could be a sign of dyspepsia or ulcers. A thorough evaluation is needed to help determine the cause of your symptoms.

after three weeks still have sour taste inmouth with indigestion, taking protonix (pantoprazole) 40 mg twice a day. i have gerd with a hernia. should i call the dr ?

GERD: The medications stop acid production in the stomach, and this is sometimes enough to relieve reflux symptoms. The medications do nothing however for stopping reflux, which is why many patients can have heartburn relief with meds, but no relief in regurgitation. You may want to inquire about endoscopic (stretta) or surgical (nissen fundoplication) procedures that can tackle to underlying problem.

Talk to your doctor : Indigestion issues could be due to your medication used to treat your Bipolar Disorder. Don't stop taking your medicine. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. He or she will have to diagnose your condition to determine appropriate treatment.

Hiatal hernia: Sx u are describing sound like hiatal hernia wth reflux.This is when portion of stomach pooches thru the hole in diaphragm where your esophagus would normally be. When this happens food and stomach acid can wash up the esophagus and go into the lungs, esp when lying down. This causes coughing, choking and of course indigestion. Best to eat small meals and not to eat late at nite,ask MDfor antacid.

i have gerd and hiatal hernia.  i take protonix. the cancer drug i take causes diarrhea. when i get it and take an imodium it immediately affects my upper digestion. i get a burning stomach, nausea and indigestion. how do i stop this problem?

: You may ask your doctor a different medication for diarrhea such as Lomotil.

can nausea ,indigestion ,reflux going up to throat, ( mucus phlegm pain  hoarseness) no heartburn,   at time food get stuck low esophagus ( in that time unable to swallow liquid  . drooling but can breath normally be related to gerd hiatal hernia?

: “Significant” reflux very likely.  Need to see your primary care doc.  If what he/she prescribes doesn’t help, need to see gastroenterologist for possible EGD
