Indication 4 surgery: Most hemorrhoid patients resolve with medical therapy. If your symptoms persist, beyond a 4 to 6 week trial of bowel regimen and local care, then ask for surgical referral. Take friend to help with risk/benefit analysis. Rectal surgery can benefit, recovery is challenging in this sensitive area. Be well.

why am i still bleeding after hemorrhoid removal?

Not unusual: small amount of bleeding after hemorrhoidectomy is normal, it may take up 2 weeks to go away completely.  You may see small amount of blood in the toilet tissue as well. You should contact your surgeon if the bleeding is profuse and goes beyond the 2 weeks.

No real risks: Except infection which is minimal. The real problem is that in healing after surgery, skin tags can reform, they are usually smaller but your bottom will probably never look like a baby's bottom. Additionally, insurance may consider it cosmetic and therefore would not cover the surgery. I frankly discourage patient s from having the tags removed. If hygeine is due to pasty smeary stools, removing.

Often nothing: There is no risk from removing these skin tags other than possibility of superficial infection and pain.

: To get best care I recommend consulting a proctologist. I find that other physicians,even colorectal surgeons, trivialize such conditions. Banding is for internal hemorrhoids only. The proctologist will also provide the best follow-up as well.

Surgery: If the hermorrhoids are symptomatic (bleeding, itching, pain, etc.) surgical treatment is recommended.

had hemorrhoid surgery removal 3 days ago. had 2 external & 1 internal. its impossible to go to the bathroom because of extreme muscle spasms. help?

Call your  surgeon: You need  to call your physician who did the surgery. There are  analgesics  and anesthetics that can be offered.
