dropped long table against my leg 16 days ago.still have bruise, lump and feels hot to the touch.also, some surface numbness.is that normal?

Accepted Answer

Could be: You may have actually bruised the bone and/or hurt the nerve.  "bone bruising" and swelling can cause compression on the nerve and cause the numbness.  You can see your doctor if it persists, but these injuries can take a while to to resolve.

Posible Infection: A bruise is a hematoma resulting from bleeding into the soft tissues. It is a  good medium in which bacteria can live and grow. It is possible, even without a break in your skin, that the hematoma has become infected. The redness and heat are sign of a localized infection. You should have it checked by your primary care physician.

yesterday i feel off a 10ft roof onto bum and was able to get up after and walk with some pain. today i woke up with a large black bruise on lower bum cheek extending to side of leg  with large hot bump . could i have sustained any serious injuries?

See a doc: Cannot tell if the bruise indicates muscle contusion or tear, or if these if an occult fracture. You need an exam to be sure. Good luck

Infection?: Red hot swollen spots make me think of infection, perhaps abscess or folliculitis, or sebaceous cysts. Abscesses don't usually go away by themselves but rather need to be drained. Folliculitis might come & go but not usually 4" in diameter (that's huge!). Not common to have several sebaceous cysts in one area. Go see your family doc for evaluation, testing & treatment. Perhaps bleeding disorder?

bf got ankle sprain for more than a week now with hematoma.  hot compress or cold? does he have to do the rehab exercise only when hematoma is gone?

Yes: Hematomas (bruises) can get bigger over a few days. Then they should stabilize and begin to resolve.

How big?: You may have bumped into some thing and not realized it and it could result in a bruise or hematoma. If there is large hematoma without trauma, that would indicate a bleeding disorder.
