: If it is getting bigger or it is affecting your eyesight, then you need to see a doctor ASAP and not treat it at home. If neither of these is happening, then ice to the area for 20 minutes at a time a few times a day should help keep the swelling to a minimum. Keep your head elevated as well-use a few pillows at night when sleeping. Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for discomfort. See doc if worsens

See Ophthalmology: I'm concerned that you need an eye exam with an eye specialist to make sure your globe (eyeball) was not ruptured, rule out an orbital fracture to make sure your vision is safe and to evaluate and treat an eye infection you may have developed. An eye doctor is needed to look deep into your eye and evaluate your retina too. Go to ER that has ophthalmology asap please.

Trauma: Rubbing or trauma to the thin blood vessels under the eyelid skin could cause this.

Cold compress time: Bruise is from broken blood vessels under the skin leaking some blood.  Cold compress will relieve pain and swelling.  The blood will break down and be absorbed over a few weeks.  Ibuprofen or acetominophen for pain.  Got to eyemd if it gets worse or does not resolve.

Injury: You obtained some kind of soft tissue injury. Think about what happened. As long as vision not affected see how you do. If worsens see the doctor

Bruise: It could have been from some inadvertent and trivial trauma or from a spontaneous leakage of blood from a tiny capillary in the eyelid. These are more likely if you take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or naproxen. If multiple, scattered bruise like spots or bleeding from gums, nose,etc occur, this would be a cause for concern and would require investigation by a physician.

The Eyes Have It: A common side for those who drive with the window down. Maybe a small foreign body (if it won't wash out, see a doctor), or the start of a stye ('hordeolum'), which is a small infection of the eyelid that can eventually get pretty big. Get in the shower and rinse the eye good. If that helps, wait and see if an infection develops (red, swollen), if not, read the first sentence again.
