In many: women periods are relatively the same as to bleeding amounts=# pads  or tampons/day and the 3 days..in others periods can vary in amount , "thickness' and length ....BOTH WOMEN ARE NORMAL ..
If by "watery" you mean less BLOOD ou might get your IRON checked!! Just a thought

i had a very heavy watery period..i am on the paragars iud and i just had a period 2 weeks ago. i have been rx provera (medroxyprogesterone) and reclipsen w/ no luck ?

Need exam: Heavy bleeding with an IUD requires an examination to confirm that it is still in the proper location. Since it is not responding to medication  the IUD may be partially expelled intro the cervix.

Very likely it is : Normal for you. After ending menstrual bleeding, signs of ovulation can be experienced . Watery discharge is a normal finding. Doesn't sound like you had any other symptoms of infection. Women can have 2-5 ml discharge on daily basis . It should not be foul smelling or causing itching or have unusual color.

Abnormal bleeding: Abnormal bleeding can occur due to multiple causes:  hormonal imbalance, thyroid disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome, anovulation, being obese etc. It would be hard to answer your question without knowing some basic info or personal health.

Normal discharge: The vagina does a very good job of self-cleaning/maintenance.  After your period, or anytime it needs it, mucus glands in the vagina activate and may produce a little discharge. A clear watery discharge is often more noticeable at mid-cycle/ovulation and aids egg fertilization. Unless the discharge is yellow/green/thick/curd-like/irritataing/itchy/odorous/bloody it can be considered normal:)

Cycle variations: may be due to multiple factors: stress, tension, usually hormonal fluctuations, illneess and mutiple issues. Keep a menstrual diary for you and your GYN.

Heavy periods: The longer your period, the thicker the lining and therefore the heavier the period. This is not necessarily abnormal but does increase your blood loss and can result in anemia "iron poor blood". You can use the birth control pill to help this or try ibuprofen or naprosyn (naproxen) starting on a scheduled basis 3 days before your period.

Perimenopause?: You are at an age where the change may be winding up. This can cause major changes in menstrual patterns. Usually it is all a normal. When bleeding gets heavy (using a pad or tampon every hour or less) it is time to get checked out by your Family Doc or GYN. First you need to know if you are anemic or low in iron from heavy bleeding. then your provider will determine if further tests are needed.

Light period: It is perfectly normal to have a light period. People with heavy periods would be happy to trade with you. If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy. If you feel your discharge is not normal then schedule a visit for testing

Consider restart: If you are not happy with the level of menstrual cycle bleeding consider restarting your birth control. Birth control can be very effective at reducing the amount of bleeding as well as reducing cramping.
