GERD: These symptoms are classic symptoms of GERD and Hiatal Hernia. You seem at risk for complications -- heartburn, esophagitis, ulcer, transformation of esophageal mucosal tissue into atypical tissue, and aspiration.  Needs remedy.

Evaluation: The black color of vomit is worrisome for a bleeding ulcer.  You should be evaluated immediately.

Gerd: Talk to your doctor anout prescribing a protein pump inhibitor like Prilosec or tagamet (cimetidine).

Kind of yes: If you have bad reflux, when you lay down there is no gravity keeping your gastric juices and acid in your stomach. The acid will migrate up your esophagus and can cause a feeling of vomit or choking when you wake up. You need to be evaluated as well as change certain lifestyles such as raising the head of your bed while you sleep. An upper endoscopy is essential for your exam.

Anti reflux surgery: Gerd can be managed well with medications and diet manipulations. Avoiding alcohol and nicotine will help reduce your reflux. The decision to proceed to surgery is made over time, usually after medical therapies have been used, and egd/manometry studies show progression of damage to lower esophagus. Okay to ask for surgery referral to get details on your case.

today after taking risek 20 mg(because i was feeling that i may have a gerd issue) i eat food after 15 min during eating i feel that i might vomit i also performed the whole vomiting action but didn't vomit is it due to the medicine?

: You may not have classic GERD but may have an esophageal motility disorder. You may have an intolerance to the sodium bicarbonate that risek contains.  Try taking a straight PPI like omeprazole or try famotidine for treatment of GERD.

: I wouldn't consider N&amp;V common with GERD but certainly does occur. The regurgitation of acidic fluids from GERD can cause nausea.

Gastritis: May be complicated by H pylori a bacteria associated with GERD/ gastritis. Also may have ulcer or gastroparesis -( slowling of emptying-do you have diabetes? ). There may also be a gallbladder issue. Would check for diabetes, check thyroid function, check for food intolerences like gluten,  and  follow up with gastroenterologist

i have gerd and tend to vomit in the mornings after my first meal. this happens a few days a week. what can i do, i've already tried prevacid (lansoprazole).

See details: Try increasing the Prevacid to twice daily in the morning and evening or switch to another ppi agent such as Protonix or nexium (esomeprazole).
