Wax buildup: You might have so much wax build up that home remedies will not work. Please see an Ear Nose and Throat Doctor. They can clean the accumulated wax out for you and also check that nothing else is going on.

Not to worry: Anything you might do with a swab in your ear that did not cause immediate and extreme pain will have no effect on your hearing.

Local trauma: Trauma to the ear canal can cause bleeding after ear procedures. This is usually not a significant injury and heals on its own.   When the ear drum is damaged, hearing may be affected and does warrant close observation by your pediatrician or ENT specialist. Best to be safe and have it checked.

No: Ringing in the ears, tinnitus, does not have to be associated with a hearing loss.  An audiogram can demonstrate a hearing loss.  Remember, the human inner ear, even in the presence of normal hearing, may have loss of the organ of hearing for the very high frequencies, such as 10, 000 to 16, 000 cycles per second.  This loss of hair cells in the very basal turn of the cochlea may cause tinnitus.

In most cases the cause is never figured out (called idiopathic) but the known causes are serious, ranging from nerve infection, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders, a mass, migraines, or vascular events like a stroke. You need imaging and immediate treatment which would be provided at the discretion of the clinician.  The rapidity &amp; unilateral presentation are concerning.

Ringing in ears  is called tinnitus . It is often  associated with hearing loss but not always and has many causes even ear wax. .  Follow up with  Ear Nose Throat doctor to determine the cause and alleviate the symptoms.
