Pretty much: An ap view of the hand and wrist has been the standard method for evaluation of skeletal maturation for many years. This includes the status of the of the various growth plates. Closure (fusion) of the growth plates is fairly clear cut.

It may: If there is a bone problem; a soft tissue problem is best seen on mri. The best exam is a physical exam and confirmed only by MRI or x ray.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. X-ray shows mostly bone abnormalities. A normal x-ray does not exclude problems with soft tissues. You should discuss it with the doctor who ordered the x-rays.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

can i have a wrist x-ray at the age of 17 after puberty for height growth ?

You can but...: If you can find a doctor willing to order this you can but there is little point in doing so. Girls stop growing 2-3 years after their periods start; this is when the growth plates close. After this further growth is impossible. If it's been 3 years or more since puberty the x-ray will undoubtedly show that your growth plates are closed. You need to accept that you have reached full height. Sorry!

he broke his wrist 3 weeks ago, it has healed incorrectly. the x-ray shows it's 30 out. is it better to re-break it now or leave it to fix itself?

Fractured wrist: It is better now and have it reset.  Other wise he will have a permanent deformity and decreased range of. Motion and function.  Go see the orthopedic doctor and have it fixed correctly

Dequervains tenosyno: Considering your employment you may have an overuse syndrome such as dequervains tenosynovitis that will give you radial wrist pain, this can progress to intersection syndrome as well.

Wrist xray: One of the last bones to ossify are the wrist bones and therefore for this reason xrays of the wrist are done to aid in the aging of a person in relationship to their chronologic age.

: Wrist/hand x-rays have been the standard for predicting growth potential for 5+ decades. There are dozens of growth plates in that area and there are standards for stages of maturity  gauged from toddlers to adulthood. Their stages correspond to the important growth plates in legs/vertebrae that determine height. When they are all closed no further growth is expected. Believe otherwise if you wish

Difficult to: say without seeing the xray.  It may be to point out the location of pain or other finding/ abnormality

Tendonitis: Tendonitis can persist especially if you do any repetitive motion with hand/wrist (e.g. Use a mouse/computer all day at work). So the ultimate treatment may be an ergonomic evaluation of your work station. Also a wrist MRI may be required to look for any ligament damage (not seen on xray).  A 'hand' specialist is the best type of doctor to get a consultation. Hope you are better soon!
