Wait: Scars take up  a year @ mature, as # the swelling it will gradually go away as ur graft matures and u regain strenght. Occ.An aspiration is deeded if the swelling hampers ur rehab.

Depends: It all depends on the type of surgery and the condition of your knee.  If you have severe arthritis, then a meniscus surgery may simply have been inadequate.  If you had an actual meniscus repair (not that common), then it's possible the repair failed.  Also, it's important to rule out an infection.  You'll need to see your surgeon for further evaluation.

Varies with surgery: Most of my arthroscopic surgery patients
for menisectomy have most of their swelling
gone within a few days and are walking
normally within a week.
For the acl patients, the time frame would
probably be more like 4-6 weeks.

Ask the surgeon: The surgeon should have some thoughts on this matter, but be aware that swelling after surgery and/or a blood clot can be very slow to heal and in some cases is permanent.

2-6 weeks: Depending on the type of graft chosen, the knee can be swollen for anywhere between 2-6 weeks.  It can last longer if the patient does not progress well with physical therapy, a very important component of a successful ACL reconstruction!

It : It will usually take a few weeks for the swelling to subside.  If you have some arthritis as well as a meniscus tear it can take longer for the fluid in your knee to be absorbed.  At two weeks post-operation i would not be too worried about having an occasionally swollen knee.

Wait and see : ice elevate modify activities for a period of time such as two weeks.  If pain persists especially pain with twisting or deep squat then seek evaluation.  Sometimes with a fall or direct blow a bone bruise can develop and can cause short lived symptoms that would improve with time and conservative care.
