NECK STIFFNESS: If not associated with fever or projectile vomiting, it can only be muscle strain or torticolis. Try taking advil or tylenol, (acetaminophen) warm compress over your neck, if persistent see your md.

i have neck pain that is worsened when turning head either way, with headache. also pressure in lower back of head. any ideas?

Cervical: It could be multiple reasons but musculoskeletal cevical pain is likely. It means it can be related to increased tension of your neck muscles or it could be due to a problem with the anatomy of your cervical spine. Start with over the counter anti inflammatory meds like ibuprofen. See your primary MD if not better.

Pain in the head and: Not quiet sure your symptoms are inter related. As your head pain is related to the neck movements it could be originating from the neck itself, may be arthritis related.

See your doctor : The grinding is generally a sign of digerati on in the facets, or neck joints. As an ED person, your ligaments which hold the bones in place are most likely lax, allowing excess movement. While,this could. Rear a chairing type malformation, I think arthritis is a more common answer. An X Ray will be telling

ive a throbbing pain at the top of my neck and frontal headache for 3 days now. its sore turning head side to side and crepitus when moving.what could this be? i had whiplash10years ago and have degenerative changes in c6-7 but this is painful c1/2?

When does it start/stop? 
Where does it go? 
What makes it better/worse? 
How long does it last?  
Medication helps/worsens?
 If you think it is something you eat/drink/do stop it &amp; see. If better, go back again &amp; retest until u r convinced it is something u should stop. Then stop it.

Discuss with your Drs. You all will figure it out.

Good question....: But you need to be more specific - pain in either place can radiate into the adjoining region - suggest getting a good physical exam to determine where the problem is and then how to treat it.

Headaches: Sounds like a cervical or neck neuralgia which can come from muscle issues or neck alignment. I would see a neurologist for a proper work up

Muscle or spine.: You may have an inflamed sternoclidomastoid muscle, a large muscle in the lateral neck, that causes spasms and pain. This is called "torticollis".
Or you might have "facet syndrome", a degeneration of the facet joints that allow us to rotate the neck and back.  If facet syndrome, chiropractic may be very helpful. In either case, antiinflammatories and ice/heat are sure to help.
