Elevated FSH: Nursing? What day of cycle ? usually FSH in fertile females is &lt; 10 on day three, the standard date for checking, but may be elevated midcycle or in polycystic ovarian syndrome . It is elevated in menopause and in very rare rare circumstances with endocrine dysfunction. Medications like cimetidine clomiphene digitalis levodopa. repeat level and follow up with reproductive endocrinologist.

Q: i'm 6 weeks pregnant and i have no pregnancy symptoms except tender breast/sore and my hcg beta level is 221 and my progesterone level is 28.5. are these levels normal? am i pregnant?

Pregnant : Your tests indicate that you are pregnant but very early. I suspect your doctor will want to repeat your hormone levels to confirm they are rising. A Progesterone greater than 25 is really good.

You ovualted: An elevated Progesterone level with a negative HCG means you ovulated but you are either not pregnant, or you ovulated late and it is too early to check.

Sounds ok: Normally these levels are not measured this early - i assume that you are under the care of a fertility doc. The Progesterone sounds excellent. The HCG is harder to judge, but on repeat tests the HCG levels should at least double in value every two days. Hope this was helpful.

Probably normal: In this instance i would follow the HCG levels which are elevating nicely. Progesterone levels during pregnancy usually are 25 or higher but this depends upon the lab reference for each laboratory. If you or your doctor are concerned, Progesterone supplementation can be started.

Q: i had a 5dbfet on wednesday (23.04). (natural cycle). after the procedure they gave me a subcut injection. would it be hcg or progesterone?

Likely progesterone: I cannot imagine any reason for an HCG shot after an embryo transfer. That is normally only used to trigger ovulation. Progesterone would make much more sense because it is the naturally occurring hormone that plays a prominent role after conception.

Q: my beta hcg was 59.6 progesterone 20.5 on 4/15. i was started on prog suppos. today hcg 234.8, progesterone 27. is 72.4 hrs doubling time ok?

Probably adequate: BHCG should increase by 66% every 48 hours. There can be variation though so this should not be used as a definitive tool to confirm pregnancy viability.

Q: just got my beta hcg back and they say im 4 weeks but my progesterone levels are 5.41 is there anything they can do to bring them up or will i be ok?

Yes: Progesterone can be supplemented once you are pregnant of your doctor thinks it is important for you.

Q: can missing a few doses of progesterone cause my levels to drop a couple numbers? hcg has risen from 1960 to greater than 15,000. progesterone went from 21 to 15. also, how many weeks does that make baby?

: A drop in progesterone can occur at 5-8 weeks gestation, which may cause some bleeding, and progesterone may be indicated to prevent miscarriage if the drop is caused by inadequate production by the placenta. The HCG level given would predict a normally growing pregnancy, but if bleeding occurs, see your OB provider to determine if progesterone may be still necessary.
