the HCG diet is based on about 500 cal/day.
The over the counter HCG is not the real hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, --
a pregnancy hormone.This hormone, hcg, is supposed to cause a decrease in hunger etc. I can't say this is a true statement.I do not have any research articles on the validity of this claim.But, I am concerned about the safety of HCG for patients. Could it potentiate ca?

Don't starve: The original HCG diet is too restrictive and not recommended. Get off the 'why bother eating' diet. Eat whole foods, lots of vegetables, enough protein, and good fats such as coconut and olive oil. Restrict carbohydrates.

Not really: If you are referring to the recent "hcg diet", which involves using HCG as well as severe calorie restriction, i would recommend against it.  Buying HCG is illegal, (http://www.Fda.Gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm281333.Htm) and extreme dieting can be very dangerous.  It is possible to supplement HCG through consuming your own human placental tissue (placenta pills / placental encapsulation).

Prob not: You are most likely not pregnant 2 weeks ago with an Hcg level of 0. The blood level can be repeated to confirm if you still haven't had your period yet.

You might be having issues with your digestive tract causing your symptoms. Any nausea or diarrhea? Can have your thyroid level checked.

Starvation: It doesn't work. The diet stipulates that you are on a extremly low calorie intake. This is what causes the weight loss, but it is very difficult to maintain and is not healthy for your body.

Good question: If you had a blood HCG and it is negative then you are not pregnant, there are many other causes of missed periods called amenorrhea, you need a workup for this and then a period can be induced with medicine, please discuss with your obgyn or go for a 2nd opinion.
