Re exam: Get re examined. Perhaps re draining and antibiotics, or a different 
antibiotic will be given.A culture may also help.

Leave it out: You can irrigate with 1/4 t salt in 1 cup of water instead  if that is possible.

Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  If infected, antibiotics are needed based on wound culture.

A week: Along with lancing, antibiotics may also be helpful. Also warm moisture will help.
Depending on size and location, resolution should take about a week.

Boil: that is a hard one to answer. I usually don't disagree with what a physician has instructed their patient to do.  If I open a boil and it needs to continue to drain I pack it with gauze and have them follow up to change packing.  I think in this case you may want to call your doc and review his instructions.  If you can't get ahold of him then go to an urgent care for reevaluation.

See doc: May have residual or recurrent  infection.  If you see doc soon, may be able to treat with antibiotics before abscess develops and you need incision/drainage again.

Boils: Once lanced (or incised and drained) usually feel a lot better but if your boil was on any pressure bearing surfaces, pain would be anticipated from sitting on it.  If you're not getting better from the lancing, you need to return to your doctor.

Colonization and tx: Recurrent boils / carbuncles may represent persistent staph infection. It is critical to discuss this with your doctor. Your doctor may give you an oral antibiotic, as well as recommend the use of hibiclens a surgical soap for bathing. In addition a topical antibiotic can be applied to areas of the body that are known staph reservoirs like the nostrils.

Sharp blade N maybe.: If the boil is superficial and has a "white-head" area, a simple lancing with a sharp blade will often do the job (without need to numb it). If thick and in sensitive area, you may get some Lidocaine as a local anesthetic before lancing is done. Small boil may not need packing--larger ones may. Since these surgical blades are so sharp, pain is not too bad..So worry not country! good luck.
