hey im 24 weeks pregnant and i stopped smoking weed about 3 weeks ago .. will it be out of my system and my babies by the time i have her ... ?

Yours-yes,baby ?: I'm glad that you stopped &amp; if you stay off and avoid bringing attention to yourself things may go well. Your system will clear. Baby ? If you get on the watch list put out by child &amp; family services,we look at babies poop.Their poop can retain trace evidence of any drug exposure for several months. If you cheat just once or have heavy 2nd hand exposure it may show up.

both babies are head down at 24 weeks. i have a lot of pelvic pressure and cramping at times but cervix is long and closed. this is the first time theyve been head down. is my risk for pre-term labor increased now that theyre head down?

: Discuss your symptoms and findings with the Labor and Delivery nurse and your OB specialist. The dilatation of the cervix is one way to assess risk of delivery. Please follow up and stay positive.

Typically 4-6 weeks: I am sorry to hear about the loss of your baby.  In regards to trying again, it will take several days to weeks for the body to heal.  If you are continuing to have miscarriages, it would be recommended to get a more in depth work up performed by your ob/gyn to evaluate for a possible cause of the miscarriages.

Lupus and pregnancy: Pregnancy in lupus patients has risks and should be planned carefully. Lupus flares in pregnancy is common . Lupus should be controlled  for 6 months prior to planning  pregnancy. Pregnancy should be  in a high risk perinatal unit. Lupus patients should be fu for apl due to prior fetal loss with anti coagulants if needed. Certain meds should be avoided. Baby  should be fu for neonatal lupus.

: Contact your doc or whoever is covering for them after hours. Some decline in movement can be due to increasing baby size in a small space, but if you have noticed this contact the dog for guidance.

: Doctors generally try to save all pregnancies that parents want to save and that don't have major fetal defects. Nowadays, if born at 24 weeks, about 2/3 survive; and about 1/3 of the survivors do well without problems. That means at 24 weeks, about 22% do well, 45% survive but have problems, and 33% don't survive. The odds get better every week, so the goal usually is to stay inside Mom longer.

will a baby born prematurely (e.g. at 24 weeks) have any lasting neurological/physical effects?

Impossible to say: Unfortunately, it's impossible to say without a physical &amp; neurological  exam.  More often than not, there is some lasting effect ... However, the degree of severity varies A LOT - from minimal to very disabling.  Best to discuss this with a neonatologist.  The program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is the best I've seen.  Hope that helps!
